The Baltic Marine Environment Commission - Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) is an intergovernmental organization (Denmark, Estonia, the European Union, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Sweden) with its headquarters (Secretariat) in Helsinki, Finland, working to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea. The EU-co-financed project "Implementation and development of key components for the assessment of Status, Pressures and Impacts, and Social and Economic evaluation in the Baltic Sea marine region (SPICE)" is directly contributing to the finalization of the 'State of the Baltic Sea' report, developed in the HELCOM HOLAS II project. The initial assessment will be published in mid-2017, and an updated version will be published in mid-2018. The SPICE project runs until 31 December 2017.
We are currently in search of a skilled and enthusiastic person to join our team at the international HELCOM Secretariat in Helsinki, Finland, as SPICE project coordinator.
The appointment is planned to be full time from June to December 2017 (ca. seven months).
overall coordination of the SPICE project as part of HOLAS II,
substantial input to the assessment of benthic habitats (Theme 4 of the project),
contributing to the assessment of marine litter (Theme 2 of the project).
have a university degree in a relevant field or corresponding education,
are meticulous and result orientated,
have excellent coordination and multitasking skills,
have excellent writing skills in English and experience of editing scientific texts,
have experience from managing multipartner international (preferably EU-co-financed) projects, including substantial reporting and follow-up on the spending,
ideally have specific expertise on benthic habitats and assessment of impacts on such habitats.
