Updates 2004

The HELCOM/ICES Steering Group on Quality Assurance of Chemical Measurements in the Baltic Sea made the following amendment at its meeting in 2004. HELCOM MONAS 7/2004 approved the amendments.

Technical note on the determination of measurement uncertainty

A revised note “A case study in the practical estimation of measurement uncertainty” presented by M. Gluschke (UBA) following the comments of MCWG and taking into consideration the NORDTEST Report TR 537 “Handbook for calculation of measurement uncertainty in environmental laboratories” has replaced the old Attachment 1 in “Annex B-4: Technical Note on Measurement Uncertainty”.

Technical notes on the determination of persistent organic compounds in seawater

The technical note, which had recently been updated and improved by the author N. Theobald (Germany) and other authors was finalised by SGQAC and has been included as Appendix 2 in “Annex B-11: Technical annex on the determination of heavy metals and persistent organic compounds in seawater”.

Technical note on heavy metal determination in sediments

SGQAC modified the text according to comments from MCWG and the group as well as harmonized to OSPAR recommendations and the findings in the QUASH project. The new version of the technical note has been included as Appendix 3 in “Annex B-13: Technical annex on the determination of heavy metals and persistent organic compounds in marine sediments”.
