'Baltic Sea - NECA' Conference

The HELCOM Stakeholder Conference shed further light on the implementation of the Baltic Sea as a Nitrogen Oxide (NO_X) Emission Control Area (NECA) under Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention. The speakers and participants included ship owners, operators and ports of the HELCOM member countries, manufacturers of related technology, other stakeholders and national representatives.

‘HELCOM-BONUS’ Stakeholder Conference

4 March 2013, Helsinki, Finland

Video clips can now be downloaded on all the speeches and presentations of the joint conference of HELCOM and BONUS, which also provided a video stream online on the day of the event. The Conference focused on defining and clarifying the importance of the research, solutions-based knowledge and their societal impact in restoring good environmental status of the Baltic Sea.

‘Alternative Maritime Fuel Solutions for the Baltic Sea Mainstreaming Technologies for a More Sustainable Future’ Conference

11-12 April 2013, Helsinki, Finland

 

More than 70 participants from Finland, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania and some other countries representing academic and business circles, public authorities and international cooperation fora gathered to discuss future scenarios and the current challenges for shipping in the Baltic Sea .

The conference was organised by the Nordic Dimension Partnership on Transport and Logistics (NDPTL) Secretariat in cooperation with HELCOM and the Baltic Institute of Finland, and financed by the European Commission.

Final workshop of the ‘Baltic Impulse’ cluster

16 April 2013, Berlin, Germany

 

The second workshop of the ‘Baltic Impulse’, a cluster of nine environmental projects running under Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007 – 2013, was organised to intensify exchange of experiences and ideas and further develop cooperation between the partners. The workshop focused on the preparations for the final synthesis report. The aim of both the report and the Cluster itself is to ensure further use of outcomes of the partner projects and to increase their visibility. The participants discussed the contents and structure of the report, and the policy recommendations to be included in the document.

Plan Bothnia wins two more design awards

 

The Plan Bothnia book won two more design competitions - the D&AD professional awards 2013, a renowned international design competition, and ‘Vuoden Huiput 2012’, the main Finnish national competition in the field of design.
