EU marine environment consultation launched

The European Commission on Monday published an internet questionnaire on its forthcoming marine environment strategy, expected this summer.

The consultation lays out for comment the probable shape of the strategy and will run for eight weeks. 

According to the Commission, the strategy should comprise a communication setting out an overall vision for protecting Europe's seas, and a framework directive leading to implementation plans.  Interested parties are asked to comment on the scope and emphasis of the framework directive.
