LAST CALL – Please Register to BRISK/BRISK-RU Final Conference by 30 November, 2011
28 November 2011 – The BRISK project, led by the Admiral Danish Fleet, and the BRISK-RU project coordinated by the Information Office of the Nordic Council of Ministers in Kaliningrad, will hold their Final Conference in Helsinki, Finland on 8 December 2011.
If you have not done so yet, please register to the event by Wednesday, 30 November, by sending an e-mail to HELCOM Secretariat: teija-liisa.lehtinen@helcom.fi
The Baltic Sea countries have been working together within the EU Strategy’s flagship projects BRISK/BRISK-RU to increase the preparedness to respond to major spills of oil and hazardous substances. The BRISK/BRISK-RU overall risk assessment of pollution caused by shipping accidents provides the countries with a working tool to:
− identify gaps in the resources needed to effectively tackle major spills of oil and hazardous substances,
− plan joint investments on sub-regional level to improve response capacities.
The Conference will provide an opportunity to hear about the results of the risk assessment as well as learn about the needs and plans to further build up response resources and enhance sub-regional co-operation.
The BRISK and the BRISK-RU involve all Baltic Sea countries in joint actions to implement the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan. The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – Helsinki Commission/HELCOM is hosting the Conference.
