The layer indicating general recreational fishing pressure has first been produced, based on the distance to harbours, weighted by the local population pool (built-up areas), and the location of shoreline houses / cottages (or, on the Swedish side, piers as a surrogate). The general layer has then been overlaid with fish spawning/nursery habitats, and the result has been classified to three classes. The input data has been produced by Finnish Maritime Administration (land/sea polygons on the Finnish side), Better water quality project / K-E Löfgren &amp; M Lönnroth (harbour points on the Finnish side), Genimap (built-up areas on the Finnish side), National Land Survey of Finland (houses and cottages on the Finnish side), Sjöfartsverket (land/sea polygon on the Swedish side), Naturvårdsverket (piers, harbours and built-up areas on the Swedish side) and Fiskeriverket (fish spawning/nursery habitats).
