Abstract:
Predicted distribution (probability of presence) of Norwegian lobster, Nephrops norvegicus in the Swedish Skagerrak Sea.
The distribution is modelled using Sediment Profile Images (SPI) as input data. The frequency of presence of lobster burrows was determined in the SPI data and used as response variable in spatial modelling in the program GRASP. Detailed bathymetry and backscatter data were used as predictor variables. |

Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.

The goal of this study was to examine the habitat distribution of the Norwegian lobster, Nephrops norvegicus in Pilot Area 1 of the BALANCE BSR INTERREG IIIB programme. The aims of this study were to investigate: 1. Spatial modelling of the Norwegian lobster habitat by using presence of potential lobster burrows. 2. Suitability of Sediment Profile Images (SPI) as model input.
